    Lloyd Fernando is an entrepreneur with expertise in managing a global printing & packaging manufacturing business; ‘Expo Industries UK Ltd’ the global front-end sales, marketing and product development facility in Ripley, Derbyshire-UK and ‘Expo Brand Packs’ a 120,000 sq. ft. purpose built eco-factory in Sri Lanka that serves a growing European market. The company manufactures packaging and labeling to the Retail, FMCG, Food & Beverage sector. He has been instrumental in supporting and implementing sustainable manufacturing practices, developing state of the art LEED/BRC/ISO 9001 certified eco-factory and responsible for the global expansion and eco-friendly products and engineering process innovations of the company. His early career was at Ford in the automobile sector as a simulations engineer focusing on process improvements. Where he was responsible for using simulations to determine, maximise, and improve the capacity of the manufacturing assembly lines. His passion for industrial sustainability started with involvement in building eco-factories, championing sustainability initiatives and exploring innovative eco-friendly product designs. His industrial experience led to an emphasis to investigate how to transform current manufacturing practices towards a sustainable industrial system. At the Centre for Industrial sustainability, Institute for manufacturing, University Of Cambridge, he is investigating Industrial sustainability competencies. His research interests are in competencies, sustainable business models & systems Innovation in Industry.
