    Speaker Bio:

    Elena Piletska has graduated with a degree in Microbiology from Moscow State University in 1985. She gained her PhD in 1989 from the Bach’s Institute of Biochemistry, Moscow, followed by several years of post-doctoral research in biochemistry of chloroplasts and polymer chemistry. In 1999 she began working as a Senior Research Fellow in Analytical Chemistry at Cranfield University, before moving to the University of Leicester in 2013 where she now works as a Lecturer in Bioanalytical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry (College of Science and Engineering). Elena is an author of more than 140 papers.

    Research interests:
    1. Optimisation of analytical protocols for the quantification of various natural and synthetic compounds using chromatography and mass-spectrometry;

    2. Development of analytical methods and assays for environmental and clinical applications using specific recognition elements based on natural and synthetic receptors;
    3. Computational design and development of the specific adsorbents for purification and separation of natural and synthetic compounds;
    4. Development of polymers which are able to attenuate bacterial quorum sensing; specific adsorbents for drug delivery and controlled release-materials;
    5. Application of conjugated and reactive polymers in separation and sensing.
