    Presentation Title:

Sustaining talent within the food and drink industry

    Presentation Synopsis:

The food and drink industries are one of the biggest employment sectors within the UK, yet businesses are chronically short of skilled employees and are struggling to recruit appropriately qualified graduates into careers within the industry. This talk will describe the training framework that exists within the UK and the opportunities that are available to address the skills shortage at different levels. Bridging the gap between academia and industry is one way in which new technologies and practices can be developed and implemented within the food and drink sector; this presentation will also highlight funding mechanisms that allow the two sectors to work together to ensure that scientific and technological advances can be translated into benefits for business.
