Chris Blythe – Operations Leader, The Conservation Volunteers

  • Speaker Bio:

    Chris is currently the Operations Leader for The Conservation Volunteers in Birmingham and the West Midlands, Managing the Health for Life in the Community Programme, as well as a number of other community focused projects across Birmingham and the Black Country.

    Originally from a retail management background, Chris joined the Conservation Volunteers 3 years ago. He and his team work with communities in Birmingham to improve green spaces, health and wellbeing, as well as working directly with numerous corporate partners including; Mondelez International, Royal Bank of Scotland, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Willmott Dixon, Camelot and Network Rail.

    Recent successes for the Birmingham Team, and the Health for Life programme in particular include an award winning show garden at BBC Gardeners World at the NEC in June2016, developing 15 spaces for community food growing across the south of the city, and leading the judging tour for Birmingham’s award winning entries in Britain in Bloom in partnership with the City Council.

    In addition to his ‘day job’, Chris is also a Trustee of the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens, and of the Birmingham Open Spaces Forum.

    Sustainable Food; It’s not all about manufacturing, it’s about communities too

    Presentation Synopsis:

    Focusing on The Health for Life in the community Programme, funded by the Mondelez International Foundation, and the work of TCV in connecting communities and green spaces, this presentation will discuss ways in which Sustainable food can be taken beyond the workplace and supply chain. Supporting both company’s CSR strategies, but also the wider population and consumers.
